What is Golden Paste for Dogs?
Golden Paste is a term that describes a particular blend of ingredients, formulated by Australian vet, Dr. Doug English. It contains black pepper, as evidence shows one of its active ingredients can improve the bioavailability of turmeric, whilst other ingredients help with the delivery (absorption) and is improved with other bioactive compounds. Other versions have been marketed (there is no ownership on the term Golden Paste) and The Golden Paste Company has further modified the recipe to increase both absorption, and bioavailability, of the majority of bioactives.

Bioavailability is the ease with which any nutrient can make its way from the food eaten into the body.
What are the benefits of turmeric?
Curcumin, as one of over 200 compounds within turmeric, is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It is a strong antioxidant, and has a metabolic effect in the natural inflammation cycle of the body’s defence mechanisms.

Turmeric has been shown to have a number of beneficial characteristics and is safe to feed to dogs (and cats). Oxidative products can be generated by inefficiencies of biochemical pathways. Some oxidative processes generate free radicals, which can also be found in the environment. Antioxidants, such as curcumin, maintain metabolic efficiency and help optimise free radical release.
