The recent National Veteran Championships, hosted by the Veteran Horse Society, attracted record numbers of attendees this year with competitors doubling in numbers since the 2018 Championships.
On the Friday Evening, the Main Arena, was sponsored by the Golden Paste Company, and hosted one of the most popular classes for both competitors and spectators alike, Dressage to Music and Strictly Dress-age.
This year’s points Champion was Claire Rafferty (pictured on the right of judge Lindsay Hancock) with her own Song of the Stars (15) who also went on to win Dressage to Music.
Later in the evening, an unexpected guest appearance, from a member of team GB delighted the crowds. VHS member, Lindsay Hancock (pictured riding), gave an outstanding dressage to music performance with her Team GB horse Barachiel, and with her was student Blythe Senior with No Limit D aged 24.
The event was an overwhelming success, reinforcing how important and prevalent veteran horses are within the showing and competitive world. The Veteran Horse Society is dependent on volunteers to continue the work they do in this sphere.
