Starting the year off a little differently... by Morwenna Foster

So my first blog of the year probably starts a bit different to most. I have been lucky enough to spend the last month travelling around Australia and New Zealand. I had the most amazing time and really benefited from the break as I have come back feeling refreshed and keen to get the season started.  I have three horses kept at home and one I ride for owners locally. My main girl is Maisie (Dash of Lime). I have had her since she was five and have evented up to Novice level. We have even made it to Badminton...

Here's to an exciting 2019.... with Fiona Davidson

2019 started in a challenging light for me, and I am thankful I am able to draw on the positives and try my best to ignore the negatives... and with a bit of patience I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel! Winter is always hard with horses - the cold, wet, short days. Haakon

I am worried about Haakon.  Over the last few winter months, he has lost weight and his back has sunk.  He has also noticeably slowed down too.  I hate the thought of him getting old.  So Haakon has started a new daily regimen of Turmeraid along with carefully weighed out hard feed.   Now he is beginning to fill out more.  He looks less angular and I don’t suck my teeth or wonder whether to retire him.    Haakon’s gaits have improved, as has his stamina and general demeanour.  He still tölts off with me leaving the younger ones behind.  I...

June with James Sommerville

June with Team Sommerville   June was a fab month for Team Sommerville. First up we had Bramham International Horse Trials. Altaskin Jack was competing in his first three star in the CIC*** section at Bramham.   Jack produced a lovely test on the Friday scoring a 37. Jack showed a huge amount of potential and class in his test, being his first big international in a huge atmosphere he handled the pressure immensely. Next on the cards for Jack was the show jumping, with a full up technical course..it still proved no problem for this exciting young horse. Jack...

May with Rebecca Rowell

May came and went in the blink of an eye but what a productive month it was! In between my regular teaching commitments and free lance grooming, I have been busy working away on my own flat work with trainer Pippa Hahn and teaching at pony club. On top of this I took both horses to Richmond Horse Trials finishing 10th in BE100 open with Echo and giving Wotsit her first run at BE90. Wotsit then went on to Floors Castle finishing 10th in BE90 and Echo and I had our first Open Novice run at Warwick Hall finishing just...
