What is TurmerAid?

TurmerAid is our complete turmeric supplement in a unique pellet form. It can be used for general wellbeing as well as promoting healthy joints

How do I feed TurmerAid?

TurmerAid is such a versatile supplement that it can be added to daily feed or simply fed by hand – your horse/pony won’t turn their nose up at it!

What are the benefits of feeding TurmerAid?

We have many customers that feed TurmerAid for different reasons such as joint issues, general wellbeing, preventive in younger horses, muscle and growth function, liver health, gut health and much more!

Can the pellets be soaked?

If needed, yes! This versatile supplement can suit any type of feed!

Do I need to add oil and pepper to this supplement?

No! TurmerAid already contains Linseed oil and cracked black pepper to optimise bioavailability. It is a complete supplement.

What is bioavailability?

Bioavailability is the ease with which any nutrient can make its way from the food eaten into the body.

Why should I choose pellet over a powder supplement?

TurmerAid has been formulated with the highest quality ingredients to optimise bioavailabilty of the key functional ingredients. TurmerAid provides no mess and ensures your horse gets their daily dose unlike powders which can get stuck round their feed bowl or avoided.

My horse is a fussy eater, how do I know that he will eat TurmerAid?

TurmerAid has been formulated to be super tasty to horses and ponies! If you are unsure, then why not request a sample from us to try before you buy?!

I’ve heard that black pepper can irritate a horse’s stomach, is this true?

Although it has been assumed that the pungency of black pepper can irritate the horse’s stomach, there is no sufficient evidence to support this claim. TurmerAid also contains ingredients to support the digestive system such as Yucca.

Can I feed TurmerAid to sheep and Goats?

Yes! Absolutely, we have many customers of the wooly kind!

Can I give TurmerAid to my dog?

TurmerAid certainly wouldn’t harm your dog but why not check out our full pet range which has been carefully formulated for your 4-pawed friend?!

Do you offer refill pouches, so I don’t end up with an empty tub all the time?

It is certainly something that we are thinking about so watch this space!

How much of TurmerAid do I need to feed?

Please see our feeding guidelines tab for this information.

Does TurmerAid help with skin and coat health?

TurmerAid can promote a shiny coat however, if your horse is suffering with a particular skin and coat condition then look at our product TurmerItch which has been carefully formulated to help with certain skin and coat issues.

How long does TurmerAid last?

Based on a 500kg horse, TurmerAid should last approx. 40 days.

Can I feed this supplement alongside others?

You may not need to, but TurmerAid can be fed alongside most supplements, we would advise to check with your vet if you had any concerns.
TurmerAid™ feeding rates:
  • Ponies (Under 300kg)

    1 Tbsp, twice daily

  • Horses & Ponies (500kg)

    1.5 Tbsp, twice daily

  • Horses (Over 700kg)

    2.5 Tbsp, twice daily

*1.5 Tbsp holds approx. 25g*

You can increase the feeding rates if required to a level that best suits your horse.

  • Apple Cider Vinegar
Our apple cider vinegar is complete with “the mother”. We use this unfiltered version as it keeps the beneficial bacteria, yeast and protein. It is ripe with B-vitamins and polyphenols (plant-based antioxidants) and includes compounds such as quercetin which can help with absorption and bioavailability.
  • Black Pepper (Piperine)
We have added black pepper into the paste as it contains the bioactive piperine. Piperine has been shown to help poor digestion and has anti-inflammatory properties – that’s not all… arguably the most important benefit is that it increases absorption and bioavailability of curcumin – some say by up to 2000%!
  • Cooked Linseed/Flax
Sourced from the UK, we use 100% whole linseed that has been cooked and micronized to provide the highest quality and to optimise digestibility and bioavailability of its nutrients. Linseed is high in oil, ideal to help with absorption of curcumin and is also rich in omegas 3, 6 and 9, and has natural antioxidant properties.
  • Turmeric
We believe in the whole root rather than just an extract as turmeric is made up of over 200+ compounds that synergistically work together. Our curcumin levels will never be lower than 5.1%. We source from Indonesia rather than India due to quantities of lead being found in some sources of Indian grown turmeric.
  • Yucca
You may have seen yucca plants in people’s homes as it has become a popular house plant lately! We have added yucca into our TurmerEase as it boosts immunity due to the high amounts of vitamin C and antioxidants, and helps promote a healthy digestive tract by reducing inflammation as it contains anti-inflammatory properties. It also contains saponins which have been shown to decrease arthritis symptoms. It really is a super plant!

Composition: Beet Pulp, Lucerne, Turmeric (5.1 % Curcumin) Oatfeed, Linseed, Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother), Yucca, Di Calcium Phosphate, Black Pepper

Analytical Constituents: Oil 4.5% | Protein 10.0% | Fibre 21.0%| Ash 10.0% | Starch 3.0% | Sugar 3.75%

  • Have used TurmerAid pellets for both of my horses, one is 23 and arthritic and was on Bute and devil’s claw. I have since taken her off the Bute and she has just the TurmerAid and devil’s claw. Normally awful when the farrier picks her feet up, however he said the difference is huge she feels more supple and holds herself much better. My other mare loves it, and it has certainly helped her and she is far more springy when jumping.

I also feed this to my 4yr old rescue retriever x collie who doesn't know when to stop. We have notice he is a lot more supple after a long walk and does not struggle to get up after a sleep since he has been on it too. Cannot recommend enough.

  • Hoppi (age 19, 2 tbsp per day, out in field 24/7, light work) We feed TurmerAid to Hoppi to help with her arthritic joints and for a healthy skin and coat. Find the pellets very convenient. Noticed a change within a couple of weeks, big difference in that she is a lot less stiff and a lot more comfortable with her arthritic joints and her coats stunning. Highly recommend it. Heard about the product through Facebook.
